If you are currently trying to lose weight, one of the best things you can do to help yourself along is keeping a food journal.  Since I started the Weight Watchers program I have the most successful weight loss the weeks that I “track” my food.  Tracking is what food journaling is called in Weight Watchers.  Keeping a journal of your food keeps you aware of all of the food you are putting into your body.  You may not always be aware of all of the calories you are taking in everyday because perhaps there are foods or drinks you just don’t think about.  Writing it down or plugging it into an app paints a picture of your daily eating habits.  

 

There are many different ways that you can keep a food journal.  One way is the obvious way, just writing everything down in a journal every day.  Being able to take a look at your food choices for the day will help you understand what you are doing right or wrong with your goals for a healthy diet.

With the Weight Watchers program they have an amazing app that allows you to plug-in your meal and it automatically calculates the points for you. (Weight Watcher assigns points to food instead of calories based on the foods nutritional value. You are allowed a certain amount of points to eat a day based on your height and weight. This is similar to having a calorie budget for the day but again, Weight Watchers assigns points to the food based on its overall nutrition, not just the calories.) 

 

If you are not on the Weight Watchers program some other really helpful apps to log your food are the My Fitness Pal App and the Fit Bit App.  Both Apps will assign you how many calories you should eat a day based on your height and weight.  Similar to the Weight Watchers App you can plug-in your food to these apps and they have a database of the foods and the calories for each food and will automatically calculate your calories for the day. 

Whatever way you chose to track your food, this is definitely something you need to be doing.  Maybe right now you are wondering why you are not losing weight.  You feel like you are working hard and eating right everyday, however once you start keeping a food journal it might surprise you to see the results.  You might easily be able to identify where your problem areas are once you review your entries.

Carnival Cruise Ship Liberty Serenity Deck

There is a lot of foot traffic behind our deck chairs but this doesn’t stop my husband from catching some zzzzz’s.  Looking at him and how peaceful he is I am finally relaxed. Sipping on my cold, non-alcoholic beverage, the wind is whipping through my hair and the sun’s warmth embraces my skin. The sway of the boat is a gentle reminder that we are afloat in the massive wide open space that is the ocean.  I fight the urge to dwell on the to do’s, the realities of life back home and work that is not getting done.  This is vacation and I want to be in the moment, here with my husband who has been wishing for this cruise for “7 years” as he has so often told me. 

The day started with my alarm going off at 6 a.m.  I didn’t sleep great, my knees woke me throbbing. This knee pain is a reminder of my Rheumatoid Arthritis and the effects of the many flights of stairs on this ship have on me. That is why even on vacation I am an early riser. I need to continue my healthy lifestyle because the pounds make the RA worse than it needs to be. I get up, turn off the alarm and quietly slip out of bed to put on my work-out clothes.  There is a gentle knocking at the door as a slide into my sneaker. The coffee and banana are here to get me started for the day.  After two cups of coffee and good morning kiss to hubby I head to the other end of the ship to the 11th floor.  Yoga class is at 8 a.m. so I have time to hit the treadmill before class.  Thank goodness I downloaded my workout playlist before we left home.  My playlist consists of some Flo Rida, Fall Out Boy, House of Pain, Missy Elliot, Rodney Atkins and a lot more music from different Genre’s but mostly all from the 90’s and early 2000’s.  This is what gets me going and wake’s me up.  Feeling great as I cool down around the 37 minute mark I am ready for Yoga class. 

Just Say Yes to Yoga!

I am still pretty new to Yoga.  A matter of fact today is my 3rd time officially doing a Yoga class.  I wasn’t sure how I would like this class because the first two that I took were on the beach back home.  Sunset Yoga is amazing and it leaves you feeling focused and refreshed.  Truthfully I wasn’t sure if it was the yoga itself or just the time on the beach watching the sunset that gave me that rejuvenated feeling.  It turns out that it was definitely the Yoga.  I left Yoga feeling happy, refreshed and ready for the day.  I wish I could bottle that up and take a sip of it anytime I am tired or overwhelmed.  It is simply amazing and I highly recommend it.

I am a plus sized Yogi, (I’m a Yogi! Yay!) and I can tell you it doesn’t make one bit of difference.  It doesn’t matter what size or fitness level you are at, you absolutely can and should do Yoga.  Sure I cannot manage all of the poses just like the teacher yet, but I can do enough that I still feel the benefits.  The more experienced Yogi’s say that the flexibility comes with time and the most important thing you can do is breath.  When I was first told that I just laughed, I think I am pretty good at breathing by now! Ha! Well once I got into it I realized it really is true.  The focus on your breath centers you, and connects you to your body and even your spirit. I find myself naturally just praying.  Yes…praying.  Little prayers of gratitude for this beautiful day, for this moment, for every moment I have had until right now and for all of the moments to come.  When I am doing yoga I find that I am just so happy to be alive and I am filled with a joy and a peace that I never experienced outside of church before.  It really can be a spiritually soothing experience. No matter what your religious belief it can present a connection with yourself and the world around you.  Try it and you will see.

Find Your Joy Facing Your Fears!

The funny thing is that I never every though that I could do Yoga.  It looks so difficult.  The stretches and poses that they do in Yoga just seemed completely out of my reach.  I am so happy that I faced the fear of failing at it and finally did it anyways.  How many things do we hold ourselves back from because we are afraid?  We often let our fears determine our fate and we miss out on so much because of that.  The truth is that it is facing that fear and stepping out of our comfort zones that helps us really experience life.  That is where the joy, the hope and best of life happens, when you face your fears.

If you haven’t noticed yet I kind of love snap chat, hence the big giant smile! The braces are real though.  You might be asking yourself “Isn’t she a little old for that?” Well my answer to that is I hope to still have a good 30 to 40 years left in me.  With today’s scientific advances I could live even longer! What I am saying is, I have hated my smile for 37 years! I am finally doing something about it and I already smile more even with the braces on.  My teeth have straightened out so well.  Yes, when I go to the orthodontist it is a rare moment when I see another patient that is advanced in age like me but it does happen.  It has definitely  improved the quality of life for me because I am not embarrassed at all anymore when I smile. (Well, except when I just finished eating broccoli, let’s just say broccoli are braces worst enemy.)

Is there something you have put off because you think you are too old to do it?  Or are you afraid of what people will say?  You are the one living with yourself every day so do what makes you happy! If you are not hurting anybody then don’t worry about what they have to say.  I was listening to one of my absolute favorite podcasts this morning, Lewis Howes, School of Greatness! and he was talking about this very thing.  He used the story of crabs in a bucket, which in short is when a crab is in a bucket by itself it has no problem getting out of the bucket.  However, when the crab is in the bucket with other crabs they will not let him climb up.  They keep pulling him down to their level.  The moral of the story is, don’t let the crabs bring you down.  Be your own person, be true to yourself and do what you love.  “Hater’s gonna hate”  (I’m pretty sure Abe Lincoln said that) The point is there are just small-minded people who can’t imagine themselves doing better than where they are and therefore don’t want you to even try.  Stay away from those people and climb out of that bucket. 

With that all said I am doing something new! I started a You Tube Channel.  It is going to be mostly for fun but also to supplement my blog a little.  I hope to add some how to meal prep videos, weigh in recordings, video journals and some family fun.  Will people think I am crazy?  Perhaps they will. I am a 38-year-old Mom of 4 kids, full-time staff accountant, weight loss warrior, and dream builder.  There are always going to be people who have negative things to say about what you are doing when you are trying to achieve something.  Those people think they couldn’t do it so they don’t even want you trying.  Surround yourself with people who are like-minded and want to achieve greatness like you.  Keep the Debbie Downers at a distance and strive on my friends.

CRUISING

Woohoo! In just one more day my hubby and I will be getting on a cruise ship for the first time ever.  We are cruising for 4 days to the Bahamas! Super excited about this new experience and I plan to do some blogging and vlogging from the trip so check back to see how we are doing.  Fell free to load me up with comments and cruise advice below.  I have been checking out some travel bloggers that have some good info but you can never know too much. I am packing my sunscreen for sure!  

The food struggle will definitely be real on this trip, but I am ready for it.  I am going to use the work out facilities there and I am hoping they have a yoga class.  The science behind losing weight is simple, you have to burn more calories than you take in. I will be continuing to track my food and exercise so that I am always aware.  That is why I can’t stress the importance of tracking your food intake enough.  If you don’t have weight watchers then the My Fitness Pal app is another excellent way of tracking your food.  It tells you how many calories you can have a day, and you just type in the foods that you are eating and the nutrition information is in the app.  You don’t have to do any math, the app does it all for you.  It also syncs up with your Fit Bit so it will already know the calories you are burning.  Go to your app store and sign up.

This week has notably been pretty bad.  Starting last Monday at 5 a.m. it began with a nasty stomach flu.  After a trip to the E.R. Tuesday afternoon, fluids and anti-nausea medicine I started to feel a bit more human.  By Wednesday night I was keeping everything down and was ready to get back to work on Thursday. 

Like I have said in previous posts, life happens. At midnight we got the call that there was a kidney ready for my husband.  He has kidney failure and has been on the list a year.  This was incredibly exciting and I flew out of bed, forgetting my zombie like life of the last few days and jumped in the car ready to get him to the hospital that was an hour away. Being so early in the wee hours of the morning traffic was great and we got to the hospital in what I am sure was record time.  Fast forward to a few hours later, after being told surgery was going to be at 4 a.m. the nephrologist with the transplant came and told us something was different on his EKG than the last one they did.  Confused and worried what this meant the surgeon then came and said they would have to let the kidney go to someone else.  In light of the EKG they decided he should have a heart catheter which happened later in the day. The good news is there was absolutely no blockage or any problems with his heart.  Sadly the kidney was let go for no reason, but of course it is better to be safe then sorry. It was happy news that his heart was healthy, but sad that we went through so much in that day with no new kidney.  My husband though, he doesn’t let any of this bother him.  He is a happy man who doesn’t sweat the small stuff or the big stuff.  I want to be like him.

So against all my very own good advice I committed healthy lifestyle suicide that day and the days that followed.  This was my lunch on Thursday late afternoon when my husband was in the operating room having the heart catheterization.

All of my good habits went right out the window when the worry took hold.  I don’t think I had one glass of water that day. Friday I headed back to work for the first time that whole week.  The amount of stress and worry that I was harboring just over my job and missing so much work led me to more unhealthy choices.  Fast food lunch, grocery store fried chicken for dinner, and so on.  All of my hard work replaced with sheer exhaustion and frustration.  My attitude quite frankly has completely sucked! So what do I do now?  For starters I can quit using my problems as an excuse for me not to put in the effort to take better care of myself.

So time to reset!  No more pity party for myself.  No more using food to help me through my tough days.  I am worth the effort, the planning and the time it takes to make healthy choices. 

So often life literally trips us up.  We stumble and maybe even fall…but the important thing is that you get yourself right back up. Don’t stay down, don’t wallow there in that dark place.  Love yourself enough to do whatever it takes to get yourself where you want to be. You are worth it. I did trip, but I will get right back up!

Weigh In Dress Shopping & Sunsets

SATURDAY

How cute is this pooch?  I was driving down the road on Saturday, in the middle of shopping for the “Cruise” dress, when I saw this gorgeous creature peeking out the window at me.  He put a smile on my face so I had to take his picture.  I hope he puts a smile on your face too.  One thing that is so important in our every day life is to really be mindful of our surroundings and to live in the moment.  Don’t let life just zip on by without you having actually lived it.

So to change things up tonight I am going to do a bit of a weekend re-cap. I finally got that dress shopping out-of-the-way that I was so nervous about when my husband suggested I needed a dress for the cruise last weekend.  It turns out that it was not as bad as I thought it would be and I actually found a dress that I am comfortable wearing.  Now truth be told when I try on clothes it is not like I put something on and think “Wow, I look awesome”.  The thoughts that run through my head once I find something that fits is “Okay, it doesn’t show too much flab”, “You can’t see my arms too much so that is good.”  and “I think I can deal with being seen in public like this.”  I know this sounds pretty sad but it is true for me as obese individual.  Clothes shopping is never fun.  The great news is that when I was shopping I actually was a size down since the last time I shopped. I don’t think i would be exaggerating if I told you that I tried on at least 10 different dresses before finding the right one. 

 

It was definitely a workout trying on all of those dresses! I did finally go with this black and white one pictured above.  So it was a successful venture all together and I am happy that I found something that will work.

There is this other thing I did that really took me out of my comfort zone but I think it was an important step to take for my blog and my journey.  I added a new section to my home page that actually tells you how much I weigh! It is really kind of scary to tell anyone how much I weigh, I don’t even think my husband knows.  Now everyone will know.  I thought it was important for my accountability and so you can see the actual numbers involved and see how much I lose each week.  This way we can watch the numbers go down together, which this week it did.  I weigh in every Saturday and this week I dropped 1.8 lbs. So it was a happy weigh in at Weight Watchers. 

SUNDAY FUN-DAY

Today after my house chores I did a bit of meal prepping.  I boiled eggs and cooked up some chicken and sweet potatoes.  I will eat the 4 oz of chicken and 1 small sweet potato for lunch and have two boiled eggs in a spinach salad for dinner.  Snacks will be oranges, bananas and grapes.  For breakfast I usually have a protein shake.  Right now I am using the Atkins protein shakes just because they were on sale at Publix, our local grocery store.  They are actually pretty good and only 4 points.  That is a great point value for breakfast.  In a post later this week I will go more into my meal prepping and give you a visual of what my typical food intake for the day is.  This week I have two times that I will be eating out.  Knowing this enables me to look up the menu before dining out and making a decision before I even get to the restaurant so nothing else will tempt me. 

I ended the weekend with another amazing night at Sunset Yoga! If you have anything like it where you live highly recommend it.  It was beautiful and relaxing.  I can feel where it really worked my core and my thigh muscles tonight. The weather was amazing and so was the beautiful sunset. The best way to describe it is that it was incredibly soothing to the soul. 

Remember it is important to take time for yourself in your busy schedule.  The most important thing you can do for all of the people in your life is to take care of yourself.  The better you feel the better you can take care of everybody else.

Sometimes all the diet advice can get really overwhelming but there are some basic things that just have to be done no matter what.  Whether you need to lose weight or not, everybody should be applying these easy healthy habits to their daily lives.

Drink water!

I know, we all know that we are supposed to drink water.  We have heard it all our lives, from our doctors, friends, and every diet article you read.  Well the reason why we hear it so much is because it is just a fact of life.  Staying hydrated is absolutely necessary for your overall well-being.  Do you have a headache?  You are probably dehydrated.  Irregular?  Drink some water. Water aids in your digestion.  Skin issues?  Drink water, the cells in your skin need the hydration to function properly.  These and many more are important reasons why you should be drinking water.  

So water doesn’t taste good?  You can add lemon to it and there are many flavor packets and gels that you can add to water now to make it tastier. Just remember everything you do good for your body now is going to keep you on this earth longer. So make a decision to make your health a priority. What helped me to make myself drink more water was an app called Plant Nanny.  It’s a free app that reminds you to drink water because it gives you a plant that will die if you don’t drink water.  Go to your app store and search for Plant Nanny.  It definitely helped me be the awesome water drinker I am today.  (I have no affiliation with Plant Nanny nor do i get any commissions of any kind, it is simply something that worked for me.) Don’t kill your plant, drink water! 

 

Portion Control!

Do not overeat.  I know it is way easier said than done but you can do it, you can control your portions.  There are a several ways you can do this.  

  • It might help you to look at the packaging of what you are cooking to see what the serving size is.  You will be surprised to see that the majority of the time it is way less than you think.  
  • Use your hands. You should have no more than a fist full of rice or pasta. Enough veggies to fit in two hands.  No more meat than what can fit in your palm which should be about 3 ounces. 
  • At restaurants order the small portion or ask for a to go box.  When your food comes put half of the food into the box and only eat whats left.
  • Use a smaller plate.  This actually helps to trick your brain into thinking that you are eating more than you are.

Toss the Junk Food or Give it Away!

One way to keep you from mindless eating of junk food is to not buy it.  Don’t even go down that aisle in the store.  It doesn’t matter if it is on sale, you really don’t want it in the house.  You will make life a whole lot easier on yourself if you don’t have access to those things in the house.  If you really have to have it than you would have to get dressed and go to the store to get it.  If you have a lot of it in your house right now, pack it up and give it away.  All you have to do is google “where can I donate food near me” and find your local food bank and drop it off.  You will be doing good for yourself and a person in need.  Make sure you stock up on fruits and veggies to snack on in their place.

Are You Really Hungry?

Another healthy habit is to identify if you are really hungry.  I know this may not seem easy when a craving hits you but you have to really think about it.  When you feel the urge to eat take a minute to listen to your body and feel if there is really a need for food or just the desire for food.  If you are like me most of the time I am not really hungry I am just in the mood for food.  Every time we eat our body releases a chemical called dopamine.  It is your body’s way to make sure you find eating pleasurable to stay alive. The problem is you can get addicted to this pleasurable feeling and this is where your desire to eat even when you are not hungry comes from. (The Thin Woman’s Brain: Rewiring the Brain for Permanent Weight Loss, Dilia Suriel) So how can we combat this addiction? What I do when I get the urge to eat and I recognize that I am not really hungry, I distract my brain.  I tell myself that I am not hungry and then I drink water and say to myself I do not need food I need water.  Another thing I will do is decided to go for a walk, do a workout or some other activity to distract myself from that food desire.  I believe that if you develop the habit of distracting yourself from your desire or craving you can beat this addiction.

Life is always happening. There is work, your kids, and your friends along with so many daily responsibilities.  How do you stay motivated on your health and fitness goals in the midst of it all? How do you keep going day after day with the right frame of mind and keep yourself on track with a healthy lifestyle?

 It is not always easy to take the time to do that workout or to prepare the healthy meal instead of grabbing fast food.  The better choice is not always the easiest or most convenient choice but it all comes down to how important it is to you.  At the end of a hard day at work or dealing with cranky kids you might feel like pizza is the best thing for everyone.  I promise you though the minute you polish off your last piece you are gonna be filled with regret. You are going to remember that workout you did yesterday and how hard it was; and the pride you felt when you passed on the cake at work. You are going to feel shame and anger at yourself for not making the right choice. Now don’t get me wrong it is not that you can never have pizza again, but when you didn’t plan for that pizza, that is when it is regretful.  

Here are 5 things that help me stay motivated:

  • Surround yourself with people who share your goals.  It is so much easier to do something when the people who you spend time with are also on that same path.  That is why Weight Watchers has worked so well for me.  The weekly meetings and social media aspects of the group keep me focused on my goals.  I know that there are other people who are in the same boat with me and facing the same challenges.  We can talk about our struggles and brainstorm on ways to overcome them.
  • Get your family on board with you. Let them know how important this new healthy lifestyle is to you.  You want to be healthier so you can be around longer for them. Sometimes you have to sit down and let them know that this is serious and you need their support. 
  • Get a Fitbit! One of the biggest motivators for me to keep moving and get my exercise in everyday is having a Fitbit.  It rewards me for my efforts with a little celebration when I hit my 10,000 steps for the day.  Another great thing is that you can be in challenges with your friends that also have Fitbit.  This really pushes you to hit your goal everyday and try to out step the other people in the challenge.  It is a lot of fun and you are helping each other by doing the challenges together. I would hate it if I don’t hit my goal for the day and everybody knows it, so it really does motivate me to get it done.
  • Pinterest.  Yes I love Pinterest! I follow a lot of boards with health and fitness tips, recipes and motivational quotes.  I really find the motivational quotes helpful.  I have them rotate as the background wallpaper on my work computer. I have a motivational quote on my lock screen of my phone, and tons saved on my boards on Pinterest.  Some of my favorites are “You get what you focus on, so focus on what you want“; “Being healthy is not a size, it’s a lifestyle” and “The difference between want and need is self control“.  You can find the ones that speak to you and put them somewhere you will see it everyday.
  • Tell someone! Tell one person what your workout schedule and meal plan are for the week then have that one person check in on you to see if you did it.  This week when I had planned to get up and go on an early run before work I posted it on Facebook so that everybody would know that I was going to run.  I even said it was for accountability, so this way if anyone asked I would have to tell them if I did what I said I would do.  It really made a difference when my alarm went off at 4:30 a.m. and I wanted to hit snooze, I remembered that Facebook post and hopped right out of bed.  People did ask me and thankfully I was able to say yes I did.

Today I am simply exhausted! I have just been going non-stop without much rest and it is all catching up to me.  During the week I get an average of 5.5 to 7 hours of sleep.  This is not good.  I know the typical standard everybody goes by is 8 hours of sleep but I don’t even think that is enough sometimes.  I feel really rested at about 9 hours.  I just don’t have that kind of time.  Even on the weekends everything is go-go-go! The problem is, besides the fact I am walking through life in a constant drowsy state, is that sleep is super important for my weight loss goals. 

An article on Web MD by Micheal J. Breus ( Can’t Shed Those Pounds? A lack of zzzzs can affect your ability to lose weight ) suggests that lack of sleep can make you think that you are hungry even when  you are not and can cause you not to metabolize your food properly.  I can tell you that one of the times I want to snack the most is when I am tired.  That is probably when I have the least willpower and ability to make healthy food choices.  It is always when I am exhausted and I cannot go to sleep that I just want to stuff my face! You know those times you can’t sleep because it is day time and you’re at work and they would definitely frown upon a mid-morning snooze in your cube.  I personally feel like if they let me have that quick nap I would be so much more productive the rest of the day.  Seriously though if you are not getting enough sleep at night it just messes up your whole day. Lack of sleep makes you hungry, makes you drink too much caffeine that doesn’t end up helping, and gives you brain fog.  It is hard to stay fired up about your healthy choices and exercise when you feel like the walking dead. (Love that show)

So with all that said what I need sleep and more of it! I need to make sleep as big a priority as exercise is for my weight loss. That is definitely going on my goal list.  If I am better rested I will be a better Mom, employee and wife for sure.

Tonight I experienced yoga for the first time and it was awesome.  Before tonight I thought that I could not do yoga.  I am overweight, not flexible at all, and did I mention overweight?  Well I have been invited to go several times by a friend that I met in Zumba class, but I just didn’t think it was something that I could physically even do.  This week she sent me the invite and I said yes, I am going to go.  What changed?  My mind changed.  I made the decision to quit setting limits for myself and telling myself that I can’t do it.  The only thing that has been stopping me all this time was my own poor self talk.  Once the decision was made I accepted the Facebook invite and told my friend that I was going.  I didn’t want to give myself time to think anymore about it so I made the commitment to go. I was fortunate and a very good friend of mine went with me and that did ease some of my nerves and discomfort.  It was sunset yoga on the beach and I don’t think we could have had a nicer night. Once we got started it really was great and I only wish I would have gone sooner.  I definitely recommend giving yoga a try if you have not done it in the past.  No matter what your size or what shape you are in, you can do it.  

How many times have you missed out on something awesome because of poor self talk?  What is it that you need to step out of your comfort zone and do?  When we tell ourselves “I can’t” we are setting limits.  Don’t limit yourself! Sometimes you have to make yourself a little uncomfortable to experience life.  That is when we feel the most alive are those moments when you are living in your “un” comfort zone.  Whatever it is that you are afraid of know that you can do it. If I can do Yoga than anything is possible!

Getting my steps in! 3/26/17

 

My husband and I are planning on doing a cruise soon.  He is super excited and cannot wait to go!  Why do I say he and not we?  Well he said he wants to buy me a dress for formal night.  I know I should be excited right?  My husband actually wants to take me shopping for a dress! The problem is this absolutely does not sound like a good time to me.  Clothes shopping is stressful and emotional for an overweight person.  It is very hard to find something that makes you feel good when you are so unhappy with your body. 

Don’t get me wrong, I am no different from any other woman.  I love dresses, I love shoes and make-up.  The fact that my husband would actually want to dress me up is wonderful.  I just wish it wasn’t so terrifying.  There is no dress that I am going to put on and feel good in. I am sure there will be something that I can find and make due with.

I would love to say that body shaming does not affect me.  I wish I could tell you that no matter how fat I am that I know I am beautiful.  I know there are many people that are overweight and happy with themselves just the way they are.  That is just not true for me.  Besides not liking the way I look with all this weight on me the way the weight makes me feel is a huge factor.  I feel tired, sluggish, and it is harder for me to do things physically than it is for someone at a healthier weight. All of these things combined make a night in a dress and heels sound awful.

This is one of the many reasons I have to be on fire for health and fitness.  This is why making goals, personal growth, eating healthy and getting fitness in are so important to me.  Life has thrown a lot of obstacles in my way and I let those obstacles get me to this place and determine my fate.  No more.  My emotions will not decide what goes into my body.  I will eat food for fuel and energy to get me where I want to be!

Next year I want to go on a cruise and be excited to buy new clothes, a dress maybe even a bathing suit.  I will get there. I know I will. I am excited to share my journey with you so I have included a picture of me today when I was out for a walk.  This way down the line in future posts you can visibly see my progress!
